Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has advised against criticizing the Bathukamma tradition without understanding it. She took to social media to respond to the criticism being leveled against her. She explained the trolling going on over the gift of a silver Bathukamma. She clarified that it is a symbol of the love shown by her mother-in-law.

Sindhu said that there is no tradition of celebrating Bathukamma traditionally in her hometown. That is why this year's Bathukamma festival is her first. She explained that she participated in the festival after joining a Karimnagar family from Telangana as a daughter-in-law.

She said that she worked hard all day to arrange the large flower Bathukamma that can be seen in the background for the festival. She revealed that she celebrated the festival with great joy along with her family members.

Sindhu explained that her mother-in-law gave her the silver Bathukamma affectionately. She said that the gift was given with the intention of welcoming the new daughter-in-law warmly into her beloved tradition. She stated that there is a place for motherly love along with tradition.

Many netizens are supporting Sindhu's response. They believe that it is inappropriate to criticize a tradition without understanding the meaning behind it.
