The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has strongly accused the central government of being scared of their peaceful protests against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and turning this fight into a fight against Modi and Amit Shah. Hours after being released from preventive detention, CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka addressed a media conference on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashutosh Ranka said, "In the last 72 hours, the country has witnessed severe anarchy. Thousands of people who wanted to protest peacefully in designated areas were detained across the country. Yesterday, they even kidnapped us from a plane. The situation is so bad that the consequences of these 72 hours have surpassed even the stories of the 1975 Emergency that we heard from our parents," he said. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of creating this misery.
"One thing is clear. This fight that started against the Election Commission and CEC Gyanesh Kumar has been turned into a fight against Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah," he said. He criticized the Election Commission, which is supposed to protect democracy in the country, for working entirely under the watchful eye of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, and for only making the BJP win the elections.
Ashutosh expressed deep anger over the way the Delhi Police handled the tragedy that befell the family of CJP founder Abhijeet Deepke. He alleged that even when the news of Abhijeet's grandmother's death came to light on Saturday, the Delhi Police behaved in the most inhumane manner, coming with cameras and microphones and trying to turn the tragedy into a spectacle. "Abhijeet pleaded with the Delhi Police to let him talk to his cousin, saying that his parents suffer from heart problems and get anxious easily," Ranka said.
Abhijeet Dipke made it clear that he was going to his hometown in Maharashtra for his grandmother's funeral, but the CJP will not back down or be intimidated by threats. Expressing their deepest condolences to Abhijeet's family, Ranka said that they will all stand by him in this hour of grief.
The CJP thanked the opposition leaders who supported them in this struggle. "The fact that four former chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, Manik Sarkar and Pinarayi Vijayan came out on the streets and stood with the youth is a testament to their struggle to save democracy. We thank them wholeheartedly," Ranka said. He alleged that the police had also brutally detained members of Left student unions like SFI and AISA. "This struggle has just begun. The government should be ashamed for turning this into a war," he commented.
The government is afraid.. that's why it has turned the fight against CEC on itself: CJP
