YSRCP chief Jagan has filed a complaint with State Election Commissioner (SEC) Anil Chandra Punetha, alleging that the ruling Telugu Desam Party is committing atrocities in the nomination process for local body elections. He went to the SEC office on Sunday and submitted a memorandum to this effect.
Jagan alleged that TDP leaders and activists are physically obstructing his party candidates from filing nominations in many parts of the state. He said that in some places, returning officers are deliberately refusing to accept nomination papers. Jagan stated in his complaint that the police are fully supporting the TDP goons who are committing these atrocities.
In the wake of the expiry of the nomination period for the municipal elections today, he sought immediate intervention from the EC. He appealed to ensure that the nomination process is conducted smoothly and in a free atmosphere. Jagan asked the Election Commissioner to issue clear instructions to the returning officers and police working at the field level.
The deadline for nominations is ending.. EC should intervene immediately: Jagan
