As part of the special revision process of the voters' list in Telangana, 71.23 lakh people have been identified as eligible for inclusion in the final list, said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudarshan Reddy. He said that the inquiry into the notices was completed by October 7 and their names were approved for inclusion.
A total of 92.88 lakh notices were issued due to discrepancies in the records in the voters' list and other technical reasons, out of which 91.92 lakh notices were handed over to the voters. The deadline for receipt of claims and objections ended on October 7. Officials said that these objections will be resolved by November 5 and the final voters' list will be published on November 9.
According to the draft list released by the Election Commission after the door-to-door survey on August 17, there are 3.38 crore voters across the state. Of these, 73.39 lakh people have been identified as deceased, have changed their address or are fake voters. Around 57.46 lakh people have permanently changed their address, 9.22 lakh have died and another 6.70 lakh have registered their vote at more than one place.
Meanwhile, the BJP has asked the state chief electoral officer to conduct mandatory re-verification at the field level in cases where 15 or more votes are cast on the same house number in 119 constituencies in the state. The party has said that its data analysis has identified around 1.63 lakh such votes and has urged booth-level officials to thoroughly check them.
