Senior Telangana IAS officer Jayesh Ranjan has applied for voluntary retirement (VRS). His decision has become a topic of discussion in state government circles. However, the Union Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and the state government have to examine this application as per the rules and take a decision.
Jayesh Ranjan is currently serving as the Special Principal Secretary of the Metropolitan Region and Urban Development Department in the Telangana government. He is also looking after additional responsibilities related to the Youth Advancement, Tourism, Culture and Sports departments.
Jayesh Ranjan, a member of the 1992 batch, has served in several key positions in the united Andhra Pradesh. YSR served as the Collector of Kadapa, Guntur and Medak districts. He served as the Vice Chairman of the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority and the Managing Director of the AP Tourism Development Corporation.
After the formation of Telangana state, he held key responsibilities in the development of IT, industries and trade sectors. He played a key role in the establishment of T-Hub in Hyderabad and the formulation of policies related to the IT sector. He also worked on programs to attract investments to industries.
He took up key responsibilities in the government this year. It has become important to seek VRS before the end of his term. While he was usually supposed to retire on September 30, 2027, it seems that this decision was taken a year in advance.
