In Telangana, the state government has strongly condemned the news that is being widely circulated on social media that women in the state will be given Rs 2,500 every month along with financial assistance and two tola gold under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme. It was clarified on Wednesday that this is a complete false propaganda and there is no truth in it.
A morphed video is going viral on social media as Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced that this scheme will come into effect from the Bathukamma festival. However, the government's fact-checking department has revealed that this is a fake video created using AI (Artificial Intelligence) tools. It has been concluded that this video was created by adding deepfake audio to the image of CM Revanth Reddy and there is no truth in this campaign.
In this context, officials have appealed to the public not to believe such baseless and false information. They have advised to take only the information officially released by the government as authentic. In particular, they have warned to be vigilant against news that comes on social media without verification.
Welfare schemes like Kalyana Lakshmi are already being implemented for women in the state. However, it is clear that the government has not yet made any official announcement on the promises of Rs. 2,500 per month and two tola gold as mentioned in the viral video. Government sources reiterated that people should be wary of such fake news being created by some people misusing technology.
