The program of making foreign coins offered by devotees in the Tirumala Srivari Hundi available to NRIs has started again after a gap of five years. The Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu (APNRT) Society has revived this special program under the name 'Seven Hills to Seven Continents'. This decision has been taken for NRIs who consider the coins in the Srivari Hundi as sacred.

What is the original program?
Devotees who visit Tirumala Srivari, especially those settled abroad, offer coins as gifts along with foreign currency notes in the Hundi. However, as per RBI regulations, banks accept only foreign currency notes but not coins. Due to this, a large amount of foreign coins are stored at the TTD every year.

As a solution to this problem, APNRT started this program during the Telugu Desam government before 2019 with the innovative idea of purchasing these coins from TTD and providing them to NRIs. At that time, it purchased American coins worth about Rs. 10 lakh from TTD. The

program, which had been stalled for five years,
came to a complete halt after the YSRCP government came to power in 2019. With this, all the coins purchased at that time remained with the APNRT Society. In the wake of the recent formation of a coalition government in the state, the APNRT Society has revived this program. It has decided to provide these coins, which have reached the feet of Srivari, to NRIs who consider them sacred.

Currently, American coins are available..
These coins have been packed in beautiful boxes and kept ready. Vemuru Ravi Kumar, president of the APNRT Society, said that only US dollar coins are available at present. He explained that each box contains coins worth 20 dollars, and they are being offered for 25 dollars.

He suggested that NRIs who want these coins can contact the APNRT office in Tadepalli, Guntur district and get them. It is reported that the possibility of making coins of other countries available soon is being considered.
