Popular Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn has received an unexpected shock from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). It has issued a 'stop-work' notice, ordering him to immediately stop the construction work on his bungalow in Juhu area of Mumbai. The main reason for this notice is that the residential property is being converted for commercial purposes.
Going into details, Ajay Devgn has a bungalow measuring 7,802 sq ft in the Kapole Co-operative Housing Society in the JVPD scheme in Juhu. He has started work to set up a state-of-the-art salon and spa in this bungalow. However, the residents of the society have objected to conducting commercial activities in the residential property.
They expressed concern that setting up a salon and spa would increase the traffic of outsiders, which would lead to problems like parking, security and noise. They complained to the BMC, stating that the internal roads here are very narrow, which would aggravate traffic problems.
Responding to this complaint, BMC K-West ward officials visited Ajay Devgan's bungalow and conducted inspections. They asked the property owners to submit documents related to the permissions obtained for commercial activities. However, as they failed to provide the necessary documents, the BMC officials issued a stop-work notice, ordering them to stop the work immediately.
The Devgan family has reportedly asked the authorities for four weeks to respond to these notices and provide the necessary explanation.
Local corporator Sudha Singh also confirmed this. She said that the initial inspections conducted by the BMC Building and Factory Department revealed that the premises did not have any commercial use permissions. Currently, work on the bungalow has been halted due to BMC orders. The authorities will take further action based on the explanation given by the Devgan family.
