Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay on Friday lashed out at the Congress and BRS parties on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. He spoke to the media after garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Jammikunta. He criticized those parties for not having the moral right to claim Gandhi's legacy as theirs. He expressed strong objection to the comments of Congress leaders who described Shri Ram as the "God of the rich".
Bandi Sanjay questioned Congress leaders including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, whether the Lord Rama whom Gandhi worshipped, who constantly chanted the name 'Rama', was the God of only the rich or the God of all the people. He recalled that Gandhiji followed Sanatan Dharma, which is based on truth, righteousness and justice. He accused the current Congress of being an "Italian National Congress" that runs on hereditary politics, corruption and anti-Hindutva policies, and that it is being led by a "duplicate Gandhi family". He criticized the Congress government in the state for completely failing to implement the six guarantees and for conspiring to divide the Hindu community to divert people's attention.
On the other hand, Bandi Sanjay also expressed his anger at former Chief Minister KCR. He criticized KCR for staying confined to his farmhouse and staying away from the birth anniversary programs of national leaders like Gandhi and Ambedkar. He called KCR, who had distanced himself from public life after his defeat in the elections, the most arrogant leader in the world. He clarified that the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fulfilling Gandhi's dreams of Ram Rajya and Swachh Bharat, and that they are the true heirs of Gandhi.
Referring to the upcoming Khairatabad Assembly by-election, Sanjay accused the Congress party of being the reason for this election. He criticized the Congress for ignoring the 2 lakh Hindu voters in that constituency and pinning its hopes on only 32,000 Muslim votes. He expressed confidence that even if the Congress and BRS parties come together, the people will reject them and that the BJP will win by uniting Hindu voters in Khairatabad. He reiterated that comprehensive development of Telangana is possible only with a "double engine" government.
