BJP MP and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that India is not an anarchic state and the country's governance is carried out from Parliament. He criticized the opposition for not being able to run the government by protesting on the streets. He commented that India has never bowed down under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will not bow down in the future.
Opposition leaders tried to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. However, the Delhi Police denied permission for this protest. Due to this, former Chief Ministers Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, Pinarayi Vijayan and several leaders were detained by the police. In the wake of these developments, Ravi Shankar Prasad spoke to the media.
Ravi Shankar said that it is not wrong to protest in a democracy. However, he criticized that the opposition parties are turning street protests into political weapons after defeats in the elections. He also alleged that there was competition among the parties in the opposition alliance.
He said that Rahul Gandhi was in agitation for three days and then left, and then the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) entered the fray in support of the Aam Aadmi Party. He said that after that, Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee and Left leaders also came to participate in the agitation. He alleged that the opposition parties have been troubling the people of Delhi for the last three to four days.
At the same time, Ravi Shankar Prasad mentioned the victories achieved by the NDA in the by-elections held in Assam, West Bengal and Puducherry. He said that these results came even when there were protests in many places including Delhi. He commented that the people have repelled the attempts of the opposition parties to damage democracy.
