The Left parties, which are providing external support to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay's Tamilga Vetri Kalagam (TVK) government, have made a key statement. The Communist Party of India (CPI) has made it clear that they have no intention of disrupting the stability of the government. Despite contesting the by-elections separately, it has made it clear that its support for the government will continue. Although

TVK emerged as the largest party after the 2026 assembly elections, it could not achieve the clear majority required to form the government. In this context, respecting the public verdict and not giving room for President's rule or indirect influence of the BJP, the CPI and CPM parties have announced external support to the government. They made it clear at the time that they would not join the cabinet or be partners in the ruling coalition.

However, in recent times, some differences have arisen between TVK and the Left parties on government policies, candidate selection, and financial issues. In addition, the Left parties are contesting the Madhurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies by-elections to be held on October 6, which has sparked a debate in political circles.

The CPI has responded to these developments. Despite the friendly competition in the by-elections, the party leaders have made it clear that there is no plan to withdraw support to the Vijay government and that there is no intention to topple the government. This has put an end to the speculations about the stability of the Vijay government.
