The nomination process for the Punganur municipal elections is continuing amidst intense tension. The YSRCP has approached the AP High Court alleging that its candidates are being prevented from filing nominations. It has filed a house motion petition seeking police protection for the candidates.

On the first day of nominations, Friday, there were violent clashes between the ruling TDP and YSRCP activists in Punganur. In this context, Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy, who spoke in Tirupati, made it clear that he would not back down even if the ruling party creates obstacles. "We are ready for any legal fight to prevent irregularities in the nomination process and protect the fair rights of our candidates," he announced.

On the other hand, the police have registered cases over the clashes and have named 70 people, including MP Mithun Reddy, as accused. In view of law and order, the police have issued notices to Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and Mithun Reddy not to enter Punganur town.
