The agitation by the village and ward secretariat employees in Vijayawada demanding resolution to their long-standing issues has led to tension. The atmosphere at the Dharna Chowk was tense as the police stopped the employees who had gathered in thousands. The government responded to these developments and assured them of its commitment to the welfare of the employees.

On Sunday morning, a large number of secretariat employees from all over the state reached the Gandhi Nagar Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada. Despite working as secretariat staff for seven years, they expressed their grievances that they were not getting the benefits and facilities they were entitled to from the government.

However, the police stopped them at various places before they reached the Dharna Chowk. This led to a scuffle between the police and the protesters. When several employees tried to break through the police cordon and reach the Dharna Chowk, the police arrested them and took them to the police stations. The employees raised slogans against the government's stance and the police's actions.

Minister's response to employees' agitation

Minister DSBV Swamy responded to the agitation of the Secretariat employees. He assured that the coalition government is completely positive about the welfare of the employees. He made it clear that the government will not back down on the issue of regularization of staff and the facilities to be provided to them. He reminded that the current government has implemented the regularization that was supposed to be done for the employees in the past. He gave the sweet news that a new PRC commission is going to be formed soon.

The minister said that the process of arrears and promotions due to the employees is being expedited. He revealed that the file of notional increments has been sent to the Finance Department for review as per their demand. However, he accused some people of inciting the employees for political gains. He warned that strict action will be taken if anti-social forces infiltrate and commit violence under the guise of agitation.

The leaders of the employee unions are making it clear that their agitation will continue until they receive a clear written assurance from the government. The deadlock on this issue continues in the backdrop of government assurances and employees' demands.
