Indian women's cricket team star Jemimah Rodrigues has been given a rare honour. Switzerland Tourism has appointed her as its 'Friendship Ambassador for India'. The agreement aims to attract more Indian tourists, especially young ones, to Switzerland. This was officially announced in the presence of Switzerland Tourism CEO Martin Niedegger at an event held in Bengaluru on October 15.
According to the agreement, Jemimah will travel to four seasons in Switzerland and share her experiences with Indians. She will not only promote popular tourist destinations but also lesser-known new places, local culture and adventure sports during her trip.
With India being one of the top 10 countries sending the most tourists to Switzerland, Swiss Tourism hopes to further strengthen this relationship. In line with their philosophy of 'Travel Better', the campaign also encourages people to spend more time in one place and enjoy it to the fullest, rather than more places in less time. Commenting on
the appointment, Jemima Rodrigues said, "Representing India is a special experience for me. I take my country with me wherever I go. I am excited to explore new things and places beyond the familiar Switzerland. I look forward to meeting the people, having new experiences and sharing those moments with our people."
Swiss Tourism CEO Martin Niedegger said, "Today's Indian travelers want authentic, personal experiences. Jemima's enthusiasm and her easygoing nature are a perfect fit for our campaign."
A trailer for the campaign was also released. In it, Jemima was seen enjoying a jetboat ride in Interlaken, Swiss chocolate making, and an e-bike and e-boat ride in Zurich. This new responsibility is even more exciting for Jemima, who is recovering from a hamstring injury suffered earlier this year.
