Retired IAS officer Aakunuri Murali expressed deep grief over the death of five-year-old Dhanashri in Khammam district. Stating that the government is responsible for providing proper facilities and security to children in schools, he criticized CM Revanth Reddy. He commented that the government does not seem to have the necessary commitment regarding children's education and safety.
Murali responded to the incident of five-year-old Dhanashri's death due to a poisonous insect bite at the Kevipalli Anganwadi Center in Khammam district through the 'X' platform. "Sorry, mother Dhanashri.. We have taken you away from this world. If all schools had pre-primary classes and rooms with good facilities, you would have been alive today," he expressed his grief.
Aakunuri Murali suggested that children's education and safety should be a priority for the government. He said that it is not right to start pre-primary schools without basic facilities and then wring hands. Keeping in mind the future of 60 lakh students in the state, they demanded the establishment of Telangana Foundation Schools with Nursery, LKG and UKG classes as per the recommendations of the Education Commission. They
suggested increasing the education budget to strengthen Telangana government schools and setting up school buses for the convenience of students. They urged the government to immediately formulate and implement a five-year plan for the future of children.
On the other hand, the locals alleged that the child died due to the non-availability of the Anganwadi teacher and negligence. They along with the parents staged a protest on Tekulapalli Road demanding action against the teacher and justice for the victim's family. Leaders of political parties and student unions supported this protest.
