Despite India captain Rohit Sharma's brilliant 92 in the final ODI against West Indies, Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar expressed his dissatisfaction. He said that Rohit was dismissed just 8 runs short of a century. Gavaskar set an interesting goal that he wants Rohit Sharma to end his career with a special milestone.

Speaking on the 'Higher Cricket Live' program aired on Geostar, Gavaskar said, "Rohit is likely to retire from international cricket at the age of 40 after the 2027 ODI World Cup. My personal wish is that he should score more ODI centuries than his age by the time he retires. Currently, Rohit has 35 centuries to his name. If he had scored a century in this match, that number would have reached 36. That would have brought him closer to the 40-century mark."

On this occasion, Gavaskar recalled the last phase of his career. "When I was 38, I had set a target of scoring 38 centuries in Tests. But unfortunately, I got out in the 90s three times. That's why I was disappointed to see Rohit miss his century. I couldn't achieve it.. Rohit should at least get that honor," he wished.

At the same time, Gavaskar analyzed that Rohit's batting style has changed after the 2023 World Cup. "In the World Cup, he used to play aggressively from the first ball. Now he values his wicket more. This is a good development. However, I see Rohit as a 'century hero', not a player who scores 30-40 runs."
