The Telangana government has cancelled the previously proposed multiple flyovers and underpasses project around KBR National Park in Hyderabad. It has issued orders approving the construction of a newly designed elevated corridor in their place. Special Chief Secretary of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department Jayesh Ranjan issued orders to this effect. The government's decision will save about Rs. 1,200 crore of public money.

According to the revised plan, a six-lane steel elevated corridor (steel bridge) will be constructed from Jubilee Hills Checkpost to Mufakhanja College. A ramp will also be connected to it to facilitate movement towards Banjara Hills Road No. 1. The 'Letter of Award' given to KNR Constructions earlier in connection with these works has been withdrawn and the new design responsibilities have been handed over to Megha Engineering. The land acquisition cost has been reduced by Rs. 800 crore and the construction cost has been reduced by another Rs. 400 crores, a total of Rs. 1200 crores will be saved.

Speaking on this project, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan revealed that the H-City work planned around KBR Park has been canceled. He said that the one-way system currently in force is giving good results, so it is being made permanent. This will save a large amount of public money, he said, adding that a six-lane steel bridge will be built from Nagarjuna Circle to Jubilee Hills check post and will be completed by next year.

The work on the old project was delayed due to court restrictions on cutting trees in an environmentally sensitive area. The government has designed this new corridor without causing minimum damage to the greenery in the park, while providing signal-free travel to motorists going towards Madhapur and Hi-Tech City.
