The nomination process for the local body elections in Pulivendula, Kadapa district, has led to extreme tension. As a clash broke out between the ranks of the YSRCP and the TDP, the police fired six rounds in the air to bring the situation under control. This incident suddenly created a commotion in Pulivendula.
Going into details, a large number of YSRCP activists reached the nomination center for the local body election nominations. However, the dispute started when the police said that they would allow the TDP leaders who were already there inside first. Angered by the police decision, the YSRCP activists suddenly tried to rush forward. This led to a scuffle.
As the situation got out of hand, the police had to fire in the air to disperse the crowd and restore law and order. Officials clarified that no one was injured in the incident. It seems that the intense political competition between the ruling and opposition parties in the context of the local elections is the reason for these tensions.
Following the incident, a heavy police force was deployed in Pulivendula and steps were taken to prevent any untoward incidents from recurring.
