The nomination process for local body elections in Andhra Pradesh has led to severe tensions in Rayalaseema. The TDP has filed a complaint with the State Election Commission (SEC) alleging that YCP leaders and activists are committing attacks in several areas and preventing opposition parties from filing nominations.

To this end, senior TDP leaders Varla Ramaiah, Ashok Babu and others went to the SEC office on Friday and met the Election Commissioner. They have filed a written complaint alleging that the YCP has created havoc in Punganur, Rayachoti, Dharmavaram and Tirupati constituencies in Rayalaseema. They have made serious allegations that YCP MP Mithun Reddy himself has committed attacks in Punganur, Annamaya district.

Varla Ramaiah alleged that MP Mithun Reddy and his followers attacked TDP workers and people in a convoy at the Punganur municipal election nomination center and created a panic. They submitted the video footage of the incident as evidence to the Election Commission.

The TDP leaders stated in their complaint that the Peddireddy family is making a mockery of the democratic process by intimidating officials. They urged the Election Commission to immediately conduct an investigation into the atrocities committed by YSRCP leaders, take strict action against those responsible, and ensure that the elections are held in a peaceful atmosphere. With this complaint, local election politics in Rayalaseema has heated up further.
