The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has approached the Telangana High Court seeking to expedite the investigation into the disproportionate assets cases involving former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. In its petition, the ED has requested that these cases be investigated on a daily basis and directed to be disposed of expeditiously.
The ED said that the nine chargesheets filed by the ED in connection with these long-pending cases have been pending in the CBI special court for almost a decade. It said that the investigation is not progressing due to the non-disposition of the discharge petitions filed by the accused. It also asked the high court to order Jagan and all other accused to appear in person for the investigation.
For the past few years, various legal processes such as special court hearings and challenges in high courts have been ongoing in these cases. The latest petition filed by the ED is yet to be heard.
