The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has intensified its investigation into the case of DSP Bheem Reddy, who was arrested in a disproportionate assets case. ACB officials simultaneously targeted his benami properties on Thursday. They conducted searches in ten areas in Hyderabad and Zaheerabad and collected key evidence related to assets worth Rs 400 crore.
In the searches conducted at the house of builder Veerabomma Venkatesh in Puppalaguda, the officials seized Rs 1.35 crore in cash, foreign currency and 14 bottles of foreign liquor. The ACB suspects that Venkatesh has invested in the construction sector on behalf of Bheem Reddy. He used to do rice business in Toli Chowki in the past. The officials are investigating how he became a millionaire after meeting Bheem Reddy.
On the other hand, the house and office of former Home Guard Laxman Nayak, who is looking after Bheem Reddy's assets in Zaheerabad, were searched and key documents were seized. Laxman, who worked as a home guard for Bheem Reddy in Patancheru, was later found to have quit his job and become a rich man by opening a gold jewelry shop. Digital evidence was also collected from the auditor's office, which handles Bheem Reddy's financial affairs.
Another key person in the case, Madhav Rao, who sold a villa in Ibrahimbagh to Bheem Reddy, fled from his house after learning that ACB officials were coming, saying it was a morning walk. The ACB also found that several benami people had destroyed their phones and tried to destroy evidence after Bheem Reddy's arrest. It is reported that only some of the investigations have been completed, but some others have been kept under surveillance in this case.
