The Cyber Security Bureau has cracked down on gangs assisting cyber criminals. In the last two weeks, a mega operation has been carried out in several southern states including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, arresting more than 100 agents. They were arrested on charges of supplying 'mule' bank accounts and KYC documents to cyber fraudsters.

Special teams of the Bureau conducted searches in several places in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Debit cards and bank passbooks related to mule accounts were seized from the accused. Preliminary investigation revealed that this network is linked to several cyber crime cases registered across the country.

Recently, a Hyderabad-based doctor was cheated of Rs. 11 crore. These arrests have become crucial in the investigation of the case. The authorities found that the money looted from the victim was transferred to these mule accounts. All the arrested are being taken to Hyderabad on transit warrants. Authorities suspect that cybercriminals in Dubai and other countries may be behind these scams.

Cybercriminals use these mule accounts to hide and move money earned through online fraud. These accounts act as a medium to hide money looted through phishing and investment scams from the real masterminds. Authorities are trying to investigate this case further and identify the main accused.
