Telangana Defence Sena President Kalvakuntla Kavitha expressed her anger over the state government's G.O. No. 1195, which reduced the salaries of National Health Mission employees. She said that this was a very unfair move and demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy intervene immediately and review the decision. She spoke to the media along with the JAC leaders of NHM employee unions at the party office in Banjara Hills. While
about 17,000 NHM employees work across the state, Kavitha alleged that the salaries of some have been cut by Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 5,000 due to the latest G.O. She questioned the government on how justified it was to reduce salaries in these difficult times of rising prices and inflation. She criticized that there is discrimination in increasing the salaries of some and reducing the salaries of others. She alleged that although the Center is providing funds for NHM salaries, the state government is not releasing them on time.
Kavitha criticized the Congress party, which had promised to regularize NHM employees before the elections, for not doing them justice now. She reminded that seven states, including Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh, have already made NHM staff permanent. The neighboring Andhra Pradesh government has also passed a resolution in the assembly to increase their salaries by 30 percent and regularize them.
Kavitha stressed that the role of NHM employees is crucial in the rural health system and vaccination programs. She said that the employees' refusal to allow them to protest and the Health Minister's failure to give them an appointment is outrageous. She demanded that the government respond immediately and increase their salaries and regularize the services of the employees. Otherwise, she warned that she would launch large-scale public movements under the auspices of her organization in support of the employees.
