It is known that the Andhra Pradesh government has launched a huge horticulture hub project worth one lakh crore rupees in Rayalaseema. On the other hand, the YSRCP has come under severe criticism for ignoring the severe drought conditions. YSRCP State General Secretary Gadikota Srikanth Reddy, while speaking to reporters in Rayachoti, made harsh comments on the government. He expressed his concern that there is a 78.7 percent rainfall deficit in Annamaya district and that farmers are going into debt even though they have dug boreholes 800 feet deep without water. He accused the government of ignoring the drying up of mango and lemon gardens and making propaganda in the name of the one lakh crore hub. "Chandrababu is not a water man, he is a real draught man (drought man)," Srikanth Reddy said.
He criticized the government for spending crores on bus trips and helicopter trips while tomato, chilli, onion and banana farmers are suffering due to lack of remunerative prices. They demanded immediate compensation of Rs. 25,000 per acre for the lost Kharif crops and Rs. 15,000 for uncultivated lands. They demanded that a special package be announced for horticultural crops and drought zones be identified.
The government, however, says that it will change the face of Rayalaseema through this project. It has been announced that 9.6 lakh farmer families will benefit from this hub, which will be completed in three phases by 2029, and that the production of horticultural crops will be doubled. However, while the government is focusing on long-term plans, the opposition is demanding immediate support for farmers.
Chandrababu is not a water man.. everything is hype: Srikanth Reddy...
