A bomb threat has created a stir at the world-famous Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The warning was received via e-mail on Wednesday morning. At that time, a match between the India Under-19 and Australia Under-19 teams was being played at the stadium. However, everyone breathed a sigh of relief when the police checked and found that it was just a rumor.
The e-mail stated that the threat was aimed at the concert of popular singer Diljit Dosanjh, which was to be held at the stadium on November 21. They said that they belonged to a pro-Khalistan organization and made provocative remarks referring to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. They warned that no one should attend Diljit's concerts. The e-mail also mentioned his program to be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on November 1.
The Gujarat Cricket Association received the email at 10:52 am on Wednesday and immediately informed the local police. After being informed about the threat, both the teams left the stadium after the match ended at 11:15 am. The cybercrime police stepped in and started investigating the sources of the email.
Speaking on the matter, ACP (Cybercrime) Hardik Makadia said, "A total of 13 places in Ahmedabad received bomb threats on Wednesday. Along with the Narendra Modi Stadium, several schools and other institutions were also threatened. All of them turned out to be false. The investigation is ongoing."
The police, along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads and the Dog Squad, conducted thorough checks at all the places where the threats were received. Officials clarified that no suspicious objects were found.
