YSRCP Guntur district president and former minister Ambati Rambabu has made serious allegations that the ruling coalition government is conspiring to obstruct the police by targeting opposition party candidates in the local body elections. He was furious that the police had illegally arrested Koppula Ravikumar, the YSRCP candidate for Dachepalli Nagar Panchayat. Ambati alleged that

the police had conducted searches on the pretext of illegally storing Telangana liquor and they themselves 
had arrested Ravikumar in a dramatic manner with liquor bottles. He questioned why the ruling coalition was so afraid if Ravikumar was in the contest. He criticized that this arrest was made to unify the elections by filing false cases. He reminded that Ravikumar belongs to a financially strong family and his father Sambaiah had previously served as the chairman.

Ambati was furious that the government was terrorizing YSRCP candidates. He said that they were causing trouble by not providing the necessary certificates for nominations. He warned that this government will not last forever and that the police's behavior is inappropriate. He said that they are acting in a way that will prey on the very people they are supposed to protect. He demanded that Ravikumar be released immediately and given the opportunity to contest freely, and that the police act impartially.
