In the wake of Sanju Samson's consecutive failures in T20Is, former Indian cricketer Hanuma Vihari has made key comments. He believes that Samson is under pressure due to the increasing competition in the team. He said that the team management has been giving him opportunities for a long time, but he needs to make the most of those opportunities.

Samson was dismissed for 11 runs in the first T20I against the West Indies on Tuesday. His scores in the Asian Games were recorded as 9, 7 and 2 respectively. Except for two half-centuries against Afghanistan last month, his form in T20Is has not been up to the mark since the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Is pressure the reason?
"How many more opportunities will Samson be given? I am his fan. I want him to play. But with the increasing competition, he seems to be getting insecure," Vihari said on his YouTube channel.

He recalled that Samson was under pressure when Ishan Kishan returned to the team. He said that now that Vaibhav Suryavanshi is in the competition, the pressure may have increased even more.

You have to deal with pressure
. Vihari said that the ability to deal with pressure is very important when playing for India. He said that only the players who have faced that situation understand its severity. He said that it is not only Samson.. Anyone in his place is likely to face such pressure.

On the other hand, India won the first T20I against West Indies by 8 wickets. Captain Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 102 runs in 43 balls. Ishan Kishan supported him with 37 runs. With this, India chased down the target of 171 runs in 14.4 overs.
