AP Congress President YS Sharmila Reddy has lashed out at the TDP and YSRCP. She accused both parties of playing dirty politics and turning the border of gems into a bloodbath with revenge. She expressed her concern that they are creating conditions that will turn Andhra Pradesh like Annapurna into another 'South Bihar'. She responded to the violent incidents taking place in the state during the local body elections on social media.

Sharmila said that the clashes that took place in Rayachoti and Punganur during the local body elections are worrying developments in the history of state elections. She criticized that the elections that should have been held peacefully are being turned into a battlefield with clashes and attacks. "If the alliance is truly a holy regime, why the attacks? Why the forced unanimous votes? Why are nominations being prevented?" She directly questioned the government. She compared that if violence happened during the YSRCP regime then, even worse atrocities are happening today under the TDP regime.

Sharmila questioned what the Election Commission was doing while goons were roaming freely at the nomination centers and why the police, who were supposed to maintain law and order, were failing. She made it clear that the Congress party strongly condemned this tyrannical attitude of the TDP while obstructing power. She said that there is no room for factional politics and bloodshed in a democracy, and that it is wrong to compete for development but not to resort to physical attacks.

On this occasion, she made several demands to the State Election Commission. She asked that the local elections be held freely and peacefully, and that strong security be established at each nomination center. She suggested that everyone eligible should file their nominations and that forced unanimous votes be prevented. She stated that elections should be a festival of democracy, but should not be a platform for day-to-day revenge.
