Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab. He alleged that the AAP government is pushing the state into a quagmire of drugs, as a result of which many families are losing their children. Amit Shah announced on Sunday that he will personally meet the families of those who were recently murdered for speaking out against the drug mafia.
Amit Shah, who posted this on his official 'Ex' account, said that he will meet the families of the victims in Mansa, Sangrur and Gurdaspur districts on Tuesday. "I will meet the families of those who lost their lives for speaking out against the drug gangs that are being fueled by the AAP government. The pain that those families are going through is indescribable," he said.
Shah warned that attempts to suppress voices raised against the drug trade will never work and the people of Punjab will give a befitting reply to them. He made it clear that the Central government will not rest until the entire country, including Punjab, becomes drug-free and that drug suppliers will be identified and punished severely.
Amit Shah's visit assumes significance in the wake of the recent killing of several anti-drug activists in Punjab. Through this visit, he will not only console the families of the victims, but also reiterate the Center's commitment to completely eradicate the drug network in the state.
