The latest sensation in Indian women's cricket, Nikki Prasad, has started her T20 international bowling career on a high note. She has set a world record by taking two wickets in the first two balls bowled. Nikki has created history by becoming the first Indian cricketer (both men's and women's) and the third player in the world to achieve this feat. The second T20 match against Zimbabwe in Raipur was the stage for this rare record. In
this match, captain Smriti Mandhana handed the ball to young all-rounder Nikki Prasad in the 15th over of Zimbabwe's innings. Nikki, who bowled her first ball in her international career, sent Zimbabwean batter Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano to the pavilion. Wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh took a brilliant catch to give India a wicket. While in joy, she sent another batter Nyaysha Guanjura lbw on her second ball. With this, Nikki made her debut memorable with two wickets in consecutive balls. In this match, she bowled two overs and took 2 wickets for just 7 runs, showing the best performance among Indian bowlers.
Only two have achieved this feat in international T20 cricket so far. Australia's Michael Kasprowicz in 2005 and USA's Akshata Rao in 2019 achieved this record. Now Nikki Prasad has joined them. In the past, players like Ajit Agarkar, Pragyan Ojha and Virat Kohli took wickets on their first ball, but Nikki became the first Indian bowler to take two wickets on their first two balls.
20-year-old Nikki Prasad is the captain who led India to the Under-19 Women's World Cup in 2025. She made her T20 debut just two days ago and scored an unbeaten 39 runs in the first match without bowling. In this match, India chased down the target of 103 runs set by Zimbabwe in just 8.5 overs and won the three-match series 2-0.
