While the debate on whether Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a boon or a curse for humanity is raging, experts are divided on the issue. A key discussion on this topic was held at the 'NDTV World Summit 2026' being held in Delhi. Alex Turner, a former researcher at Google DeepMind, warned on this occasion that AI could cause an "uncontrollable intellectual explosion".

Alex Turner participated in the discussion on the topic "Will AI wipe out humanity?" at this conference. He said, "We can benefit a lot from AI. But we need to prevent the 'uncontrollable intellectual explosion' that is putting the world at risk. For this, we need to slow down the development of the most powerful AI systems."

However, another prominent AI expert, Andrew Ng, who participated in the same conference, also responded. He said that fears that AI will lead to job losses are exaggerated. "To be honest, AI is not working that well yet. It is not yet capable of destroying many jobs. So if we keep learning new skills, there will be no threat to jobs," he assured.

Recently, Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleiman, as well as the heads of organizations such as OpenAI and Anthropic, have also expressed concerns about AI security. According to NDTV articles, it is clear that the debate is going on among experts around the world on AI capabilities and its control.
