Nicholas Butts, director of AI and cybersecurity policy at tech giant Microsoft, has made sensational comments that India is at a great risk in terms of cyber attacks. He said that India is the seventh most vulnerable country in the world to cyber attacks and the third most vulnerable in Asia. He expressed concern that the intensity of these attacks has increased with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He revealed these key points at the 'NDTV World Summit 2026' held in Delhi.

"The threat to India is very real. This is not a threat that will happen in ten years, but a security challenge that we are facing right now," he stressed. He explained that they analyze 165 trillion telemetry signals every day and block 5 million new malware, which is why they have a clear understanding of this threat.

Explaining the three main threats facing India, Butts said, "A ransomware company called 'Storm 3168', based in China, is carrying out attacks using AI agents. Also, 'Storm 0940', which is inspired by the Chinese government, is working to steal data and spy."

In addition, a cyber gang called 'EvilTokens' is selling AI tools for just $ 1,500, which has affected more than 10,000 organizations in 120 countries, Butts said. Cybercriminals are becoming more powerful using AI.
