DMK chief MK Stalin has lashed out at the ruling TVK government over the jail incident in Theni district of Tamil Nadu. He alleged that law and order has completely deteriorated under the government led by Chief Minister Vijay and criticized it using the names of popular web series. He alleged that after 'Breaking Bad', a 'prison break' has now started in the state.
The incident of 17 undertrial prisoners escaping from Thekkampatti sub-jail in Theni district last night created a sensation across the state. Responding to this, Stalin criticized the failure of CM Vijay's administration. "After Breaking Bad, a prison break has also started in Tamil Nadu. Even those who have come out on bail are not being monitored. But under this incompetent government, even prisoners in jails are escaping easily," he commented.
Stalin recalled that this is the first time since 1995 that such a large number of prisoners have escaped. He said that this government has not protected the people and that self-defense is the only option for the people. It is known that recently, when a TVK party leader was caught in a narcotics case, Stalin criticized the party as a 'breaking bad party'.
In the Theni jail incident, prisoners, believing that a prisoner had fainted, attacked the guards who entered the cell and escaped. After this incident, the police, alerted, formed 17 special teams to catch the escapees. Officials said that four prisoners have been re-arrested so far. Nine prison staff have been suspended for their involvement in this incident. Since Chief Minister Vijay holds the Home Department, he was in a position to directly answer the criticisms of the opposition.
