A horrific incident took place in Idukki district of Kerala. A young man brutally murdered his ex-girlfriend because of failed love. After strangling her, bludgeoning her to death with a rock, he set her body on fire to destroy evidence. The police have arrested 19-year-old Nishant, who committed the crime.

According to the police, Nitya (18) from Bodinayaknoor in Tamil Nadu and Nishant (19) from Rajakumari in Kerala had been in a relationship since 2023. However, after some time, they broke up due to differences of opinion. In this context, on October 11, Nishant called Nitya to Poopara to talk about their relationship.

The two met at a tea garden in Poopara at around 2:30 pm. A heated argument broke out between the two. In a fit of rage, Nishant first strangled Nitya. He then hit her on the head several times with a rock and killed her on the spot.

Not stopping there, Nishant tried to cover up the crime. A few hours after the murder, he returned to the scene of the crime at around 10 pm on the same day. He loaded Nitya's body into his autorickshaw and took it to a deserted place near Pambala Dam. He poured the petrol he had brought with him on the body and set it on fire.

The next day, locals found the burnt body and informed the police. The police registered a case and started an investigation. After the incident, Nishant switched off his mobile phone and fled. The police arrested him in the Rajakumari area with technical evidence. The police said that they are investigating the full reasons that led to the murder.
