A key step has been taken in the development work of Warangal (Mamanur) Airport. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has completed the tender process for the first phase of the works and finalized the contracting company. Hyderabad-based Saidax Engineers and Infrastructures Private Limited has been awarded the work of constructing a protective wall (boundary wall) for the newly acquired land for the airport.

This contract was finalized on September 29. While AAI has fixed the estimated cost of Rs. 21.39 crore for these works, Saidax has submitted a bid to complete the works for only Rs. 13.28 crore. This is 37.89 percent less than the estimated cost. This will save the government about Rs. 8.10 crore.

As per the contract, in addition to constructing a precast boundary wall around the newly acquired 283 acres of land, the height of the old wall will also be increased. The work will be done in accordance with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) regulations. The work will start on October 9 and will be completed within 15 months. As per the agreement, representatives of the Saidax company will sign the official agreement at the AAI office at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad by October 14.

It is known that the state government has completed the land acquisition at a cost of Rs. 285 crore and handed it over to the AAI. After the boundary works, the tender process is also underway for other important structures like the terminal building and ATC tower. The state government has set a target of making the airport fully operational by June 2028.
